And now this section of our SOI prerelease prep has some real spirit.
This is a JP-style ghost, with that triangle dealio, as informed by various animu and the copy of Noragami #10 right next to me on a stack of jRock CDs.
Oh my gosh, this is literally my weeaboo card.

And then seeing how it would look with inks and pencils in concert.
I believe I drew this to see if I could learn to like that long-flowy, short-buzz combo haircut you always see online on "unique/cool geek/gamer girl/person" characters but never in person. Still/annoying.
M'lady.

A little midday break sketch to see how fast we could go and not trainwreck.

Another Jombie token in prep for the SOI prerelease in a couple days. This was was just seeing if I could make the Frankensteinian bolts work.
I guess I called it a stress test because I was just riffing, again these are live inks, no pencils, and I wasn't entirely sure what I was drawing here. I do know I wanted to mess with some collarbone structure I had been studying recently. That sounded weird.

Man, I went on a run where I drafted Black White almost literally every single week from around Born of the Gods through Journey into Nyx, and then carrying over to BW splashing green or red or both during Khans block.
I distinctly remember when Dragons of Tarkir came out, and I was in shock that I couldn't justify BW anymore, and discovered myself played Blue White. Mighta forced a Swamp in there for a card or two, but eventually was cutting all black.
What a run.
What were talking about again? Oh right, her shirt says Black White in Japanese.

A little personal challenge exploration sketch from around when I was drawing a lot of monsters.
Mildly miffed whenever I forget to put the date on things.

I am not actually sure how many tokens I'll need for the SOI prerelease, so I'm going to pack at least two of each of the common ones for which tokens already exist to be torn up for.
But I drew three zombies so far, this being the first one I ever drew, based on a photo.

Ok, giving her a little Tokyo background, actually a photo right near this one, plus some stylized color.

I've heard her in a couple interviews and she seems so entirely cool.
Anyway, I believe this was one of my first fudepen sessions.

More Shadows over Innistrad prerelease prep. This will be a zombie. Shrug.

Another rejected shirt design concept from a million years ago.
It's based on the chapter headers from the incredibly stylish, minimalist Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, which feature these gorgeous, heavy black, highly-stylized paper cut-out-looking illustrations. So at first glance, they look like those traditional, old illustrations, but when you stop and look closer, you'll see modern stuff like cell phones and things.

I have a love-hate relationship with motivational thoughts.
I don't get "positivity" in the abstract, like the more I think about it, the less I can believe it.
But when they're good, they really really do fire you up.
It just doesn't compute.

More Shadows of Innistrad token prep. Another Chiara-inspired oolf.
I notice I tend to draw rabbits a little more frequently than other animals, aside from turtles, but here there's meaning. Innistrad 2 is all about the moon, and in Japan, they say there's a rabbit that lives on the moon, so rabbits have a deep association with the moon here, hence that imagery coming up in this piece.

I found this old file called Brewer. Interesting since one of that word's definitions is to tinker or experimentally make something original.
Well, sometimes things just don't work out.
