More from my old sketchbook find. I couldn't just put my inks back, so I thought I'd try to give this one some refinement.
Secretly seeing how using just the G-Pen and the Maru pen would work on a piece, to see if I could conceivably ink my comic with just these two and no Microns since the whole losing my regular ink kit on the train situation. Could buy a replacement, but I'd have to take a two hour train ride to get to my usual spot and would love to see if I could be able to be exclusive on G- and Maru if possible.
Was so enchanted with the piece I drew some two years ago, I had to ink it.
I've been live-inking for weeks now--closest I've got to pencils was the circles here--but it's been so soothing getting back to traditional inking this weekend, and the G-Pen is so soothing...I don't know if the live-inking is helping, but regular inking is so much more relaxing now.
I cleared out my current sketchbook so have been looking through my old sketchbooks for free pages to draw in and found this drawing.
I remember being inspired by the design of Noodle from Gorillaz for this, but I also had my courier character, Jinjin, on my mind, too. I really love the military look, and looking back on this, I'm still really happy with this piece.
I couldn't remember why I drew this, until I noticed the emblems, which are actually Easter Eggs, and it all came back to me. I drew this early on after I arrived in Tokyo...it was a test to see if we might be able to do essentially splash images, so like Gorillaz, highly fashionable characters in fake apparel. Never pitched this, though.
Found an odd little charm to this doodle. Probably informed my zombie designs, though I'm pretty sure I was thinking of Noodle's design from Gorillaz, at least in the back of my mind.
Had a lot of fun with the background window's light effects and zombies. Finally getting to put those KNKL lessons into effect, feels great, but worried I'm messing up my back from how I keep finding myself contorting when I use the tablet...I don't get why this is happening all of a sudden.
