This was supposed to be a birthday gift, but it fell apart.
In any case, happy birthday.
Easter Eggs: TIE fighter, golden snitch, butterfly, Texas, clock's at 8 and 1.
Fun Fact: I stupidly lost my grip on my sketchpad during a train ride, creasing the paper.
Lots of failed experiments in this one.

This piece is huge, so it'll have to wait some more, but here's our mystery fish quite nearly completed.
After discovering Tokyo University's sole scanner, the following posts have been updated with scans:
RivalLady_WIP, BubbleBurst, Yoko, and TinyKappa.
And since this was a cheap Friday, here's a warm up I don't think I'll finish. It's based on art by Jo Chen.

Fun_RivalLady_WIP
[UPDATE: I found the Tokyo University scanner!!
So here's some progress before the train got too bumpy]
I got a couple of nice sketches from tonight's episode of Seigi, and this is a Work In Progress of the older sister's rival lady, or maybe they are just co-workers. I'm going to color it up on the train tomorrow.
Also: Yale was founded in 1701, and I just got 1701 hits.

[Scanned Update!]
This is a girl I met in a smoke-veiled Shinjuku bar just before her Yakuza boyfriend set a knife to my throat.
No, wait.
It's just a girl I saw on TV.

Fun_DoubleOrNothing
I've been in a funk recently, so another improvised Friday. This is one of my favorite Pokemon, Lugia.
Next is a rather annoying character from Teen Titans (money's in yen).
So what do these two have in common?
They were featured on a little reminder card I made for someone, sporting some (hopefully) relevant characters.
I also took the opportunity to experiment a little.
And finally, an update on that fishy fellow from last Friday. Just needs color now.

Fun_Yoko
This is Yoko from Seigi no Mikata, a show I've become a fan of even though I don't understand Japanese.
I have a rough idea of what's going on: Yoko must take the abuse and bidding of this psychotic older girl, who I'm guessing is her evil sister or something.

This is a small kappa I drew while waiting for the group to pick me up at Joypolis.
Kappa are my favorite.

Since I'm in Japan, a Japanese homage: Toshihiro Ono's take on Gary Oak from Pokemon.
So here's Gary.
[Scanned Update!]
I'd wanted to do something fancier for today, but I ran out of time, so here's some WIP detail.
Hopefully Tokyo University's General Library'll have a scanner.

This is "chibi" Ben in celebration of being in Japan.
Hopefully a scanner will surface soon,

[If you are reading this, then I'm still trying to figure out how to post from Japan.]
This is a breakdown of last semester's Bamf.
First pencils...
...Then inks.
That's it.

Fun_Later
This is an ancient drawing I had sitting around that seemed applicable for today's news: 0 Days Until Japan!
So now I'm off to study Japanese Cinema and Culture at Tokyo University, on a Yale summer session. I hope to find inspiration and life altering-experiences.
With any luck, I'll be able to continue posting from Japan.

Fun_Eeeee.df_MO
This is a step by step of Eeeee.
First I pencil the comic, with many sketches along the border to help me figure out tricky details without abusing the paper space for the actual comic.
Next I ink the drawing, like any considerate artist would if shooting for publication.
Inking is scary to me, but it's a necessary evil.
And finally, we "color" the comic with pure black for the finished product.
2 days until Japan!
