Hare_Des.Under9000

A little ad I made inspired by Dragon Ball Z, text-free version.
Printed version has JP up top and Angloos on bottom.

It occurs to me this looks pretty (extra) ridiculous without the text.

Hare_Des.DawnOfTheLoser

Another ad thingie I made, with the JP swapped out for some neato lyrics by TV on the Radio. Originally it was about a little viewing station you could watch old Pro Tours and stuff at.

And no, I'm not a Breaking Bad fan, I just like this song, and later found out it had some kind of BrBa tie-in.

I tried watching it, and it was so boring! I was like, this is what all the hype is about? It was like Hal sitting in a living room while a lady was talking incessantly or something and he was miserable having to listen to her(?)...I remember he had a briefcase or something that he was preoccupied with.

It was a while ago. Man, was it back in the US? I can't imagine I've had any opportunity to watch Western shows in JP...don't even have a TV.

Anyway, cards we used were--last call for guesses--as follows:
See Beyond
Propaganda
Evermind
Unblinking Bleb

Easy, wasn't it?

Hare_Des.LetsRewind

A design piece I did. I swapped out the Japanese for some slightly less nonsensical English.

It was themed on memories, since the event was about writing down your memories of the past year or some such.

The cards we jammed here were (last chance to guess...ok here we go):
Time Walk
Island
Secrets of Paradise
Breeding Pool
Brainstorm
Memory Jar
and
Watery Grave
as the beaver.

Fun_SaitokyoMTG

This was my most recent piece made specifically for Tsuitta---.

After fellow Magic shop and location-game-acronym TokyoMTG announced their new line of sweaters, he mused online about wanting a sweater of his very own from TokyoMTG--TokyoMTG being an MTG shop located somewhere in Japan, but not sure where. Maybe TokyoMTG is in Miyazaki, somewhere? Osaka? TokyoMTG should be more specific.

Anyway, using some GP coverage photo, which is © Wizards of the Coast LLC xkcd abcfamily, I whipped this up for the occasion. I was tickled to find some people in the US react to it as if it were real!

In any case, it's funny cuz despite wearing TokyoMTG's gear, he famously runs a famous JP shop with another famous name. His name. Nobody ever realizes Hareruya's named after himself, not just sunny skies.

Note this image is satire. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Hareruya Inc., TokyoMTG MegaCorp., Wizards LLC, Centaurs ESRB, Lucasfilm LTD, Ask Jeeves, or yo mama dot Obama dot comma.

Wake up, sheeple.

Fun_OwenIsAwrong

This is a Twitter mock-up I do recall more about. Owen T said something about this card resembling a certain celebrity and he was wrong, so I made this to demonstrate who it really looks like.

Now everyone knows what you are--which is to say, © Wizards of the Coast LLC html afk.

I don't remember exactly why I made this, but do recall it was specifically for Twitter.

Pretty sure it was in response to something LSV said during a draft during Betrayers of Tarkir.

Fun_Zombiez

I tried randomly mixing some sketches with photos I've taken one day and they came out pretty neat, certainly a change of pace. This one was from a photo of a station I hit after FNM sometimes.

As I noodled with the photo, it felt definitely horror-capable, so I tried to see if I could turn the image into something out of like a horror-survival game or something.

Fun experiment.

Easter Eggs: Ghosts!

The drawing was the lingering first sketch from my current sketchbook. Or I guess the one before the current one, I'm working on like three simultaneously.

Hare_DeckSpeaker

I created #SaitoWayfinder many centuries ago after being asked to come up with a fun hook for a then-upcoming deck-building feature the Boss wanted to do. I made a list of ideas we could use, which involved poring over every card in Standard at the time (full RTR-M14-Theros).

Neat ideas included:
#OrdealOfSaito
#SaitoBoardPlan
#Tomoharugoyf
#SaitosRevelation
#BoonSaito
#GainSaito
#FanaticOfMoDecks
#LotListTroll
#DeckConfidant
#SaitosanTactics
#DictateOfSaito
#MonobrewSaito
and of course
#BreachingTomoharucamp

He chose three he liked and asked fans to pick the final name we'd use. And thus #SaitoWayfinder was summoned.

I was surprised to see the namesake Satyr Wayfinder so soon reprinted in the same Standard's M15, but once Tarkir came out, I thought we could revamp it to something relevant to the latest block--though also pleasantly surprising was that the green mulcher became a Standard staple--so I pitched #SaitoDeckspeaker. It didn't go anywhere, but I thought it was a neat idea, though of course mixing messaging isn't without its own perils.

Maybe the hashtag will outlive the card? Maybe they'll constantly reprint it, plane to plane, and we can keep the party going? Only one way to find out.
