My ears get cold so easily...I wear a hood or headphones constantly partly because I love sweaters and music, but also because it keeps my ears warm.

I discovered the headphones as earmuffs trick at Yale, where--get this--it snows.

I often doodle up on scraps of paper, and I noticed these happened to combo pretty well into a little story moment, like the Everbored Princess, Pearl of the Great One Blue, giving instructions to her little assassin Agents, Uno and Yahtzee. Her starfish Ace and Jacker are her bodyguards who can transform into giant, hulking bipedal versions at will, only their starfish bodies remain as mask-like coverings for their new bodies.

She only ever seeks Entertainment to cure her constant boredom and will scour even the Drylands in search for the latest Pagliacci--the embodiment of the greatest Entertainment on Myrral--housed in a living vessel that emerges only once every 100 years.

Her Entertainment standards are impossibly high, though, since she is obsessed with discovering the Pagliacci and will assume anyone presenting Entertainment to her is potentially the very vessel she seeks, and she suffers no rookies.

Appropriately (in her mind) she will send her Agents after anyone who she feels dares waste her Audience--however she will give them 72 hours to run so she can get at least one last stab at Entertainment from failures. Thus she has accrued many enemies from the other nations who also seek the find and claim the Pagliacci for themselves.

Fudepen and monochromatic Copics study after Dairyfree.

I don't often use the darker W-series Copics, but made a point to go no lighter than W-4 here.

The darker Ws make me think of coffee, but in a good way. I hate coffee, you see. Detest it. Audibly gag.

For the longest time, I'm talking years, I thought koohee was the Japanese for coffee, and that after many mix-ups where I had thought it might have been "Kohei" at first.

And the final of the old piece where I had to draw an ukiyoe version of Yamaken.

Did this quite a while ago, but managed to find the pencils, too.

To give you an idea of how long ago I did this, this is their generation 1 uniform, and he's not even on the cheemu any mo'.

Pro tip: doing ukiyoe stuff creates a hole that is quite pigeon-shaped.

Super old lines to a Yamaken commission. He had just joined the team at the time, so they wanted a little ukiyoe headshot of him to match the then duo that comprised the cheemu.

Just in case, I decided to make a full-body shot, though obviously I had a hunch any extra effort wouldn't be necessary.

I got to play him the weekend before he top 8ed a Pro Tour, ya know. Super nice, extremely methodical player and dude.

He's now on team Cygames. So.

I like this sketchbook because it kinda forces you to draw large, something I resist like it's going outta style.

I just like to hunch over the paper and have everything a mere motion away, and I can keep the whole piece in view easily.

But I struggle to keep everything in mind when I draw large. Is this even considered large?

I mean check out dem endamas, kid.

俺ニューヨーク is just a nonsense phrase that popped into my head as I was drawing this.

It doesn't really mean anything, just kinda captures the mood. I don't think she's even from New York.

Man, I love Team Rocket.

Even as the show started to wane, I always, always loved Team Rocket. They always had the best lines.

And I always rooted for them.

But I like villains.

I even still own my official Team Rocket shirt I won in a contest from Nintendo...er Wizards of the Coast? I won it from the official TCG's "Where is Team Rocket" sweepstakes, promoting the then-new official Team Rocket expansion. The font of the R is not accurate to the official show's font, but it's official merch! I emailed in an official entry every day for like two weeks! I still wear it, but I've had it for over 10 years, and it's finally getting worn out...

A lady from an old ad on the train.

I love riding on the train as long as I'm sitting, preferably in rows facing forward, but those wall-clingers can be nice, too.

I like sleeping on the train. I love the trains in the country side, or the Bullet Train to Tokyo from my old, small town.

I've always held that trains are the most romantic mode of transportation, in the aesthetic sense...like who knows who you'll meet. I love that scene in Tenchi in Tokyo where they meet and neither even know who the other is.

My hand got all inked up while in the middle of that Pierce the Veil session that when I was working on this one, the edge of my hand dipped a blunk of ink onto the page, so I decided to work that into the piece, smurdging and smoodzjing ink all around like a mad, mad, happy child.

A live ink to da max with my multi-color ballpoint pen for this (largely useless) Elf Warrior torn alter token. I actually started this a while ago, before SOI rendered Elf Warrior tokens even less relevant, but I finished it off just today in an effort to clear my little docket of tokens that have been waiting to receive finishes.

It does suck that the token is basically unusable, but to be fair, this was more of a learning experience anyway to see how articulate we can get using just this pen. I do know not to mix them with Copics, for example, we learned that. So I'm pretty happy with what we can get, will have to watch the blending a bit more, but next step is to try this on a more usable token. I do love Copics, so I figure this might be just a good option if I'm ever looking for something relatively more straightforward or mobile, since I don't need my Santa-bag of Copics immediately on me for these.

Again inspiration for this was from Chiara. The background, I was on the fence about. Didn't want to do another night sky, kinda wanted to incorporate more green for the token's actual color, so went with a jungly/foresty-night, somewhat abstract background.
