MTGinktober storms Day 14, "Castle," starring Ayara, First of Locthwain; Jacques le Vert; and Castle Locthwain!
I wasn't quite sure what to do with this prompt until I randomly thought of "American Gothic," and seeing how Jacques, who I've long wanted to draw for whatever reason, hits the old man's pose and facial construction pretty dead-on. I was sure Ayara should be the female lead since she apparently gets married daily or at least constantly, and no other guy hit the notes like Jacques.
Fun Facts: This is everyone's debut, and might just be our first Reserved List card to make an MTGinktober appearance. Also neat to feature a land prominently.
Easter Eggs: The main prop is of course Sharpened Pitchfork, and then since Jacques's stomach doesn't make the original card's crop, I looked to Andi Rusu's other Magic designs and went with gear based on Sir Shandlar of Eberyn's armor. And since we had some wiggle room for his design, and they're ostensibly married here, I suited him up with his and her colors' Shandalar rings: Ring of Valkas; Ring of Kalonia; Ring of Thune--its second MTGinktober appearance; and Ring of Xathrid.
